How to Prepare for a Rhinoplasty Procedure

You might have thought about getting a nose job for years and finally built up the courage to find a qualified surgeon and finally go through this process. You might have problems breathing because of your nose shape and it feels really good to know that you are finally receiving the nose you have always wanted. So, now that you found your surgeon, what do you do next?

Of course you have to meet with the surgeon before scheduling the surgery. Not all people are qualified for the surgery depending on their medical history. For instance, one that has hemophilia cannot receive rhinoplasty. The surgeon will then conduct a physical exam and inspect al the skin inside and outside your nose. This will allow the doctor to determine how to change your nose because of the thickness of your skin or strength of the cartilage. After this, the doctor will photograph your nose from a few different angles so that you can see what type of result is possible with your facial structure. You two can then discuss expectations and your motivations for the surgery. The only way that you will get the results you want is if you have open communication with your surgeon because the doctor will not know exactly what you want and like unless you speak up.

After the discussions with your surgeon, you will then schedule your surgery. Two weeks before and after the surgery, you will have to avoid any medications that contain aspirin or ibuprofen because they can increase bleeding. You’ll also need to stop smoking once you receive the surgery because it will slow down the healing process considerably and your chances of getting an infection increases. To speed up the healing process, you can prepare before the surgery by taking vitamins C, E and iron. Lastly, as with any surgery because of the anesthesia, you will need to arrange beforehand for someone to drive you home after the procedure and watch you for the first few days.

Picking the right facility and doctor to do your rhinoplasty procedure is extremely important because you want someone that you can trust to listen to your needs and provide great results. The doctors at Boston Rhinoplasty are just the doctors you need for a successful procedure. With their skills and experience, you will get the results you deserve.
