Rhinoplasty FAQ's

Like many people, you want to look great and you may find that you face obstacles along the way. Sometimes people like you feel their nose isn't quite the right shape or a little bit too big. This might because of birth or because of an injury you've suffered. In that case, you might want to look into a procedure called rhinoplasty. This medical procedure can work wonders and help you feel more happy with your appearance after a bit of help from the right person.

What is RhinoplastyThe word might sound familiar but you're not quite sure what it means. Basically, rhinoplasty is any procedure designed to help make your nose look better or correct an existing medical defect such as a deviated septum. Believe it or not, rhinoplasty procedures date back to the ancient Egyptians. Today, the procedure is a highly sophisticated medical procedure done by trained professionals.

Who Does Rhinoplasties? A rhinoplasty is done by a doctor. You procedure will be done by otolaryngologist who specializes in the ear, nose and throat. It might also be done by a maxillofacial surgeon who operates on the jaw, face, and the neck. Many people also choose to go to a plastic surgeon who may do dozens of this kind of surgery in a any given time frame. Ask for recommendations from friends and family or from your local surgical organization.

What Happens During a RhinoplastyDuring the actual procedure, a skilled surgeon will correct any defects your nose may have. This may include working on soft tissues of the nose as well as the bone in the nose. You will be sedated during the entire procedure. After the procedure has been completed, you can expect to have bandages on your face for some weeks. The surgeon will periodically examine your nose to see how well it is healing from the procedure.
